The World is Full Of Haters

Why do we have different standards for celebrities than other people? I don't get it. If you were a talented athlete or singer, and people were offering to give you millions of dollars to do what you love to do, you would take the money.  You might be the most god fearing goody goody in the world, or you might like to screw hookers and take drugs, but guaranteed you'd take the money. Anybody who says that they wouldn't like to be rich and famous, because of the "scrutiny" that fame brings is a liar.

Today an unauthorized biography of A-Rod was released. It was written by Selena Roberts, the same Sports Illustrated writer that broke the story about A-Rod's past steroid use. (Which he publicly admitted to) Now Ms. Roberts is trying to make more money by writing a book about what a bad person A-Rod is. As you might guess she is a bug eyed shrew who probably hasn't gotten dick in 10 years. So it is pretty obvious why she would hate the kind of guy who would never give her the time of day. She probably was the undercover ho of some athlete in her college days and now she is seeking revenge. I came to this conclusion after watching her interview on the Today Show. She is bitter, and there is NO denying it. Matt Laurer grilled her and she admitted that many of the "sources" she used to substantiate her claims would not go on the record and/or flat out denied telling her anything. Her justification was that she wrote an article about his past steroid use,  and it was true, so every other rumor must be as well.

Correct me if I am wrong but do good people write slanderous books about other people in order to turn a profit?

If A-Rod does/did do drugs it is the responsibility of his employer to drug test him. If his employer is supplying him with the drugs, than why not go after the entire New York Yakees? He is a professional baseball player. He gets paid to win games, he is not paid to be a good person. There is nothing I hate more than people who try to pick apart someone for being a "bad" role model. Its not illegal to be an asshole.

If he is "cheating" at baseball I'm sure he isn't the only one. The problem is that no other baseball player is as popular in the press as A-rod. If she wanted to expose a less famous person no one would give a shit or read her book.

My intent isn't to pity a man who is hardly an underdog,  but the fact is that if he wasn't good looking and screwing Madonna, would we even care?

I totally agree. These books are written by never have beens who loath athletes because they could never do what these people can. They are so jealous that they jump at the chance to get back at the "jock" or the "popular person" that may have done them wrong at some point in their life.

I think the dumb bitch should have to answer for these statements in court. She will profit from statements that may be untrue so isn't that fraud??? And further more I like how everyone loves the recovering alchoholic or drug user in sports but they want to banish a roid user from the game the min it is even suggested that they might have used.

Hello! the two most juiced up guys ever in Baseball Sosa and McGuire saved your stupid boring ass sport! After the players strike their race for the homerun record saved Baseball period.....

A-Rod will undoubtedly sue the shit out of her, thus negating any "profits" she makes. If the case goes to court, she'll be toast, no doubt.

He should sue her, and Sports Illustrated should fire her.

Its fucked up that its even legal for people to be able to write things like that, I do believe that she is a marked woman now.

Why are we holding her to a standard if we're not holding anyone to standards? Isn't she in fact doing whatever she can for fame and money? Either through someone else or on her own she was given this idea to publish a bunch of lies about a celebrity for money and a spot on the Today Show..."Anybody who says that they wouldn't like to be rich and famous, because of the "scrutiny" that fame brings is a liar."...right right.

If only good people wrote the truth, there would be no publishing industry.

fuuuuuudge, i didn't mean to sign my name!!!...don't be mad, just offering a different opinion, ok?? everyone take some xanax. i think A-rod's HOT ok, and baseball sucks but i love the tight pants, geeeeez!!!

Aubrey,
I thought of that while I was writing this post but I don't think writing books with an intent to destroy someone's career is the same thing as playing baseball.
When you make money from hurting people then I think its a problem. If she wanted to write a fictional book about a baseball player, sweet.
