Suggestions?
Tuesday, June 23, 2009 OK, so its been shitty and rainy here for days so I decided to catch up on my movie watching. As of last week I hadn't seen an adult movie in months. Couple that with the fact that our internet connection is about as strong and quick as dial up, and you have the idea. Walmart just got a RED BOX, I know the rest of the country has been renting movies from Red Box for ages, but its new to us.
In case you don't know what Red Box is, its a big vending machine, you put in your debit/credit card and then press buttons that correspond to movies. There isn't millions of movies like Blockbuster but renting them only costs $1 a day, so you won't get turned into a credit agency if you lose them. Inexpensive commitment, little human contact....perfect for a budding hermit.
I watched The Wrestler, Revolutionary Road, Bride Wars, and Martian Child (which despite its funny name, is actually very sad).
To be honest everyone of those movies is actually sad on some level. I would recommend seeing all of them really, but if I had to be pushed to give an answer on which one told the most interesting story I would go with
"The Wrestler". The acting is superb.
The Wrestler will make you uncomfortably laugh, wince, and then cry. Its heavy on the T&A though so you may not want to watch with your kids or parents.
Revolutionary Road, is a movie for people who find themselves married and disillusioned with the status quo. Wow. Its about two cool people who got married and then followed a stereotype instead of their dreams, and how it ruined their marriage and lives...eeeeeek
So I've given you my two sense.... Do you have any movie suggestions? I don't know how I am going to power through any more rain....

If you want a true, depressing, yet AMAZING movie (to watch at night with a red wine buzz while it's raining outside) then I suggest Rachel Getting Married. However, if any one of those circumstances isn't met (night time, rain, red wine) then the movie won't kick your ass like it did mine. My two cents. Cheers!
