Guest Post: The Cove

Dear Scarlette -

First off, who doesn't love dolphins right?  They are not my favorite animal, I love Horses and Hippos, Dogs and maybe then Dolphin's in that order.   I have never paid money to swim with a dolphin and I don't have a dolphin tattoo.  So please don't think I am your traditional activist.  I actually haven't done anything besides watch a movie, sign a capaign and make a small donation.  But if your readers could do the same thing (or even one of these things)- it could be the difference between life and death for these animals.

I recently watched the documentary "The Cove"   http://www.takepart.com/thecove/  and http://www.thecovemovie.com/. I was shocked that this brutality could be happening to Dolphins and under such a shroud of secrecy.   Please watch this movie, please tell your readers to watch this movie.

I know that your blog is not traditionally a forum for social causes, I have always been very private about what causes I  get behind and I never try to talk someone into anything.   Basically, I would be terrible at sales.   However, I can't look away from this issue, so instead I write you because of the impact your readers could have on this cause could be exponential.  I think most people, myself included had no idea that today in 2010 this could possibly be happening.

In fact, In the film it says that most Japanese have no idea that this is happening in their Country.  I couldn't help but think of you time in Toyoko and ISAJGS - if only we could get the word out maybe we could help some of the 20k dolphins that are horrifically slaughtered there.

Will you help me?

oxox

Dear OXOX,

That is really fucked up. And sad. And of course I will help you, and hopefully my readers will too!!!

I watched the movie as well as was horrified. I will never see another dolphin in captivity!
