The Parade
Sunday, July 5, 2009 Sandpoint is a small town. We have parades on the fourth of July.
I've attended the 4th of July parade in Sandpoint at least 25 times. There has only been one significant change in all these years. When I was about twelve one of the floats (when I say float I mean a wooden trailer with a piece of paper taped to it) ran over a boy scout when he decided to hop off his float to retrieve a piece of candy. I am pretty sure he didn't die.
However; it was this incident that lead to the "No Throwing Candy" rule in Sandpoint parades. This "rule" shattered the hopes and dreams of the candy deprived children of our fair city. The other consequence of this ruling is that children have to sit through the entire parade with no reward other than a member of the Lion's club waving at them, or witnessing a horse shit and the subsequent scooping (often performed by some sort of clown). Kids love that.
Anyway, here are some of my favorite pictures from this years parade, I may post the whole group at a later date, my diggity dang internet connection is on strike again.
I suppose its the lords way of saving me from myself right?
Hope Ya'all had a great fourth!!!!
